Does Rolex know of an issue with the 3235? We will be last to know. The foreseeable future is the 32XX class of movements, and this post isn’t to discourage you from buying watches with them. I have given a 3235 already 2x to Rolex for repair, for free within the guarantee period. Got it back without any indication what they did, extremely discrete as always.
I recently read about issues with the 3235 movement and now I'm a bit nervous about this purchase since, as I mentioned, I plan on using this everyday for many years to come. My question is - how widespread is this issue and does .This self-winding mechanical movement is at the forefront of the art of watchmaking. A consummate demonstration of Rolex technology, with 14 patents, it offers fundamental gains in terms of precision, power reserve, resistance to shocks .
Rolex Caliber 3235: The New Chronergy. The absolutely most important and significant innovation of the 3235 is the new Chronergy escapement. The escapement is the part of the movement that helps regulate the power which is delivered from the mainspring via the oscillator. The movement boasts an accuracy rate when new of -2/+2 seconds per day, surpassing the industry standard for chronometers. This remarkable precision is achieved through a combination of factors, including a high-precision balance wheel with a blue Parachrom hairspring, and the brands patented Chronergy escapement.
Based on my pristine experience with the 3135 and satisfactory experience with the 3235 (even if hit and miss), I trust Rolex and I have no doubt the source of the problem can be found and addressed, eventually.
Grinding out a Submariner case or melting ceramic into a red and white bezel insert is just icing on the cake, and I’m sure Rolex knows this. One of the absolute worst things Rolex could do is replace a time-tested and reliable movement like the 3135 with something that doesn’t work as it should. Does anybody have problems with a 2 year old plus 3235 movement losing time? I bought my Rolex Datejust 41 in April 2019 and up until recently it held very good time, within a second a day.
